True, sanitizers are usually designed to kill bacteria, not viruses. But I think we use disinfectants during this pandemic, which can kill viruses (like how soap also kills viruses) and other types of germs.

At the same time, however, contaminated surfaces are not the main mode of transmission of SARS-CoV-2, so many experts agree that it'd probably be wiser to invest in proper indoor ventilation instead. I wrote an article about this before, link below if you are interested. :))
