That's a good point. Genes indeed do play a lot of roles in causing diseases and increasing the risks of diseases.

Although I didn't cover it in this article, evidence exists that both APOE4 geneotye (the major genetic risk factor of AD) and HSV-1 reactivation confer higher risk of AD compared to either one by itself.
