Thanks a lot for your thoughtful comment. In this age of unlimited information, I really agree that discerning right from wrong, especially somewhere in the gray area is increasingly difficult. I find it challenging too.

But one tip that helped me was to look for counterarguments. For example, I'd usually believe in authorities, but sometimes there might be flaws in their recommendations, which I wouldn't know unless I looked for and read the criticisms of other researchers.
