Thank you Gunnar Sivertsen, for your thoughtful response. It's true that systemic harvesting of data from all sources is not actively done. Most surveillance studies are passive and retrospective in nature, as far as I know. But I think that applies to all previously approved vaccines, if I'm not wrong.
Perhaps this issue is a long-standing one that needs to change, probably from the governmental level. But I imagine the public would protest or disapprove of this change to active surveillance for privacy reasons. Nevertheless, I do hope suveillance systems are more active than passive in collecting data.
