Thank you for your kind comment. As far as I understand, SARS-CoV-2 sometimes enter the brain, most likely via the leaky blood-brain barrier or olfactory nerve (that bypass the blood-brain barrier). We know this from extensive animal studies and human autopsies. Once SARS-CoV-2 got inside the brain, so many things could go wrong, considering that the brain is a highly sophisticated organ.
But SARS-CoV-2 or C-19 could also trigger widespread inflammation that indirectly affects the brain. We also know this from animal and autopsy studies.
Depending on which brain region or signalling pathway got harmed during C-19 or SARS-CoV-2 invasion, the resulting neurological sequelae may occur. For example, damaged amygdala could lead to PTSD, and damaged serotonin pathway could lead to depression. This is just my understanding, however, which I doubt there’s concrete proof to it. It also amazes me how one single pathogen could wreak havoc in so many biological systems in the body.
