Thank you for your comment and congratulations. I understand China is and will always be secretive. But people in the US have also made unverifiable statements, such as the sick Wuhan researchers story that allegedly came from a secret government source.

But I don't think this means we can't trust every source of information coming from China or America. Some information, especially scientific ones, is still verifiable via a process of replication and consistency of evidence. In this debate, we mainly argue with scientific data rather than political statements.

But in the end, I agree we only come up with a hypothetical decision. Still, at least it tells us which situation is more likely, and that may be enough. IMHO, I don't think we live by guarantees, for example, we can't guarantee when we will die, but we can give it an estimate so we dictate how we live our lives.
