Thank you for your comment. BA.5 wave is very recent so I don't think we have such data yet. That said, an observational study (link below) did find that Paxlovid is still effective at reducing risks of severe and fatal Covid during the BA.1/2 wave.

There're indeed several barriers preventing us from capitalizing on the full potential of science. Another barrier is vaccine hesitancy where people may not necessarily take the updated booster when it's ready for public use.
