Thank you for commenting and the debate did address those two concerns.
For #1, yes, the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV) is still several miles away from the market. It takes 30 minutes of driving and it's odd that, if Covid-19 is a product of lab leak, that the first significant outbreak occured at the market and not somewhere on the way. And don't forget, the market itself sells live animals susceptible to Covid.
Moreover, it's incorrect to say that the WIV do research on coronaviruses similar to Covid-19. In fact, they does research on coronaviruses similar to SARS1 based on the DEFUSE grant and their past publications. And SARS1 and SARS2/Covid-19 are highly different.
For #2, the furin cleavage site (FCS) is a popular topic which I addressed in this Medium article. A simple analogy to uunderstand this matter is that the common cold coronavirus, HKU1, has even more suspicious FCS than Covid-19 (please see the last two slides in the Appendix of this Medium article). But we know HKU1 isn't a lab leak because it was discovered in 2004, where gain-of-function technology wasn't as advance.
