May I ask if you know any biological mechanism for this?

Even if their immunity has waned and some develop symptoms, a re-exposure will generally result in a recovery rather then a fatality.

May I ask if you know any biological mechanism for this? Precisely, if immunity has waned, how does the immune system know what to do. Is it because waning immunity does not mean complete disappearance?
