I think it’s safe. When I think about it again, it seems that post-vaccine platelet disorders usually affect those with no pre-existing platelet disorders. For instance, 17 out of the 20 post-mRNA vaccine ITP cases happened to persons with no pre-existing ITP. Similarly, a pattern was identified with the AstraZeneca DNA vaccine that it might trigger CVST associated with thrombocytopenia in younger females.
Looking at these small numbers of post-genetic vaccine platelet disorders, it seems to me that those without pre-existing platelet disorders are at higher risk. I could think of a few theories why this might be the case, but I digress.
If it was my dad, I would be happy if he chooses to get vaccinated since older males (in general) are among the top groups of people at risk for severe Covid-19, which could result in death or long-term complications.
