However, I recently received a comment from another researcher with a different perspective, saying that “in terms of a conspiracy that involves humans, the best way to evaluate its correctness, is to ask: “How many people would have to keep quiet in order for this to work.””

So, at this point, I think genetically engineered SARS-COV-2 is possible in theory, but real-world evidence suggests otherwise, at least for now.
