Hmm true, vitamin D main role is to maintain bone health and maybe the immune system to some extent, but not an antiviral. Whether it's a waste of research resources, I think, depends on the funders?

But after reading a fair share of scientific literature, I also think that most research - not just vitamin D - ultimately doesn't have any real-life significance. Yes I know that's controversial so it's just my view.
