Hmm, I’m not sure if aspirin is a mistreatment for Covid-19. I’m also not sure if early treatment for Covid-19 would produce the same efficacy as vaccines. This is because SARS-CoV-2 has an incubation period of about 5 days, so by the time symptoms appear, there are already thousands, if not millions, of viruses inside the body. No drugs can prevent this as far as I know, except vaccines. But even vaccines are given before exposure to infection. Sure, unless we invent a miracle antiviral that can wipe out all the replicating SARS-CoV-2 in an infected person — without safety concerns — then maybe vaccines wouldn’t be needed. This problem is arguably the main drawback of antivirals in general.

I think the increasing numbers of breakthrough infections are mostly due to the fact that many people are vaccinated. The same can be said for deaths from breakthrough infections. But these observations are based on the numerator only. If we take the denominator into account, the breakthrough infections only occur at <1% of vaccinated persons.

Whether vaccinated individuals would drive superspread, I’m not sure yet. It might be a yes if the majority of the population are vaccinated, and strong vaccine-resistant mutants arise. But even so, vaccines would most probably still protect against severe disease even after infection.

I just read an article from Atlantic that says the same thing: “The answer is simple: They can if they make up a large proportion of a population. Even though vaccinated people have much lower odds of getting sick than unvaccinated people, they’ll make up a sizable fraction of infections, hospitalizations, and deaths if there are more of them around.”

Anyway, forgive me for my long-winded response. I hope to hear your thoughts too if any.
